Health in and around Heppner...

Morrow County Health District strives to ensure the basic health and medical services to all Morrow County residents.

Emergency medical services include ambulance dispatch sites in Heppner and Lexington.  A first-response unit located in Ione is called to stabilize victims until ambulance crews can arrive.  EMS certification levels range from volunteer drivers to paramedics.

Pioneer Memorial Home Health provides intermittent home care under the direction of a physician. Registered nurses, home-health aides, social workers, and therapists (physical, occupational, speech) perform services for individuals confined by illness or recuperation.  Home Health also has a very active Hospice organized for those in need.

Pioneer Memorial Hospital, in Heppner, is a twelve-bed, acute-care, In-patient facility with a cardiac care unit.  It is also licensed to provide skilled nursing care under the Medicare/Medicaid Swing-Bed program.

Outpatient services include emergency, physical therapy, radiology, and laboratory.  PMH is designated on Oregon Trauma Level IV facility, greatly improving chances for trauma survival in a rural area.

Pioneer Memorial Clinic, a primary-care clinic staffed by family practice physicians and a family nurse practitioner, sits near the hospital, to serve the communities Monday through Friday.
